This was Utah’s song of the summer

The song of the summer is up for debate.

Billboard, which keeps streaming and purchase numbers for all songs, picked Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber as the top song for the summer.

Meanwhile, a USA Today list called “Wild Thoughts” from DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller was the best song of the summer.

It turns out, there’s no one ranking. And every state has a different feeling about the summer’s best song.

PBS NewsHour and Spotify teamed up to find out what each state’s song of the summer was, and found there were only three contenders, including both “Despacito” and “Wild Thoughts.” Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3” also registered among several states.

In Utah, the “Despacito” remix topped the list, similar to much of the Western United States.

One look at PBS’ map shows that the Deep South and the Rust Belt both favored Vert’s song, while the Northeast and California listened to “Wild Thoughts” more often.
